LEARN HOW TO EXCEL IN

AP PHYSICS 1

IN 2-3 HOURS PER WEEK

even WITHOUT HAVING TAKEN physics before

Tips for Watching: Have both you and your child watch this together to get the biggest benefit out of it.

Watch the video above, and if you want to sign up, fill out the registration below.

How long is the program?

It's a 4-week program. There's two sessions: one in July and one in August. (You can see the dates below in the registration form).

What topics do you cover?

https://www.loom.com/share/f94b0222027b427b82d5cc6ae9bd94b7

Unit 1 (Kinematics) which includes

  • Kinematic equations

  • Free Fall and 1-D Motion

  • Relative Motion

  • Vector Decomposition

    • Projectile Motion and 2-D Motion

I feel it's best students get a solid foundation in the first unit (Unit 1: kinematics), especially if this is their first physics class. There are programs out there that try to cover the entire course in 2 months. I know many students who tried those programs and came back to me for help because it was too fast and they didn't really learn it well. It's already a hard course to do in a whole year, so most students won't do well in trying to learn all of it over a short time.

What about the other units?

We do teach and have support for the entire AP Physics 1 curriculum. Options for those units are provided after the first 4 week session.

I do this because I want students to actually ensure they like learning this way, and feel confident in the support (I know they will love it, but I want them to experience it before looking ahead to future units).

How many hours a week of work is needed?

It can vary based on how quickly a student picks up the material, but about 2-3 hours per week is the average. That's broken down into

  • 2 Hours of Classes per Week

  • 1 Hour of Homework per Week

There's actual extra support classes if students are struggling a bit more, so it can be more hours/classes per week.

We want students do learn that doing a little work each week will go much farther than trying to cram a bunch of work into a short time. Speaking as someone who did Electrical Engineering at Berkeley and Stanford, cramming is not the way to be successful in those programs with hard classes.

How many classes per week is it?

https://www.loom.com/share/b48d1aeb32e14e2c97d0ab646d23f561

It depends. Think of the program as having objectives each week.

Each week, I'm looking for my students to learn to solve a particular type of problem and a skill. And there are live lessons, and homework to assist with that.

Some weeks, students will pick it up quickly, and they will learn that week's skill with only needing maybe 1 class that week.

Other weeks, the material may prove more difficult and they come to more help sessions (maybe even 3-4) in order to fully grasp it.

The goal is for them to be able to solve AP level problems each week, and at the end of the 4 weeks, be completely comfortable with Unit 1. They will be assessed with AP exam level questions to ensure they mastered that unit.

When are the class times?

You can see the available class times in the registration form.

You can also see the schedule on Google Calendar.

If I sign up, can I change the session date or class times?

Yes!

I know summer plans and things change, so students can definitely switch sessions or classes.

Even if there's a vacation in there, I've had some students do 2 weeks in July and 2 weeks in August, so it's flexible how the 4 weeks work.

Are there any refunds offered?

Yes. You can cancel and get a refund anytime before classes begin.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee though for processing and credit card fees.

Do you offer any demo lessons?

No we don't offer any demo lessons because the support and pieces are varied.

But you can take a look at the recorded lessons here that we start out with. This should give you a sense of the style of teaching and how we will work on the core foundational skills.

What happens if the school is not aligned with your program?

https://www.loom.com/share/5f8bdaa35a464bfab700e06152f0ee35

Our program is designed to be completely flexible. During the school year, we have three pieces to help specifically with this.

1) We have office hour sessions where students come by and ask about any topic they need help. Including topics that may be out of order or specific to their teacher.

2) We have unit review sessions where we review and cover older topics. So even in December, while we may be focusing on Unit 4, we will have weekly review lessons on Unit 1, Unit 2, and Unit 3.

3) Students also have access to our Q&A area and Discord server where they can ask questions whenever they're stuck on a problem. We provide video explanations (via loom) on any problems they need help with specific to their school work.

Early Bird Pricing (Before March 31st): $300

Regular Pricing (After March 31st): $375
